COBRA is simply a continuation of your group benefits for a limited time period. It is great for those who have pending medical treatments or major preexisting conditions, but the cost is usually very high. This is because you are not only paying the portion you paid as an employee, but you are now paying the portion your employer paid as well (including a 2% maintenance fee). In most cases our clients are able to find more affordable Health Insurance through an Individual plan and forgo their COBRA coverage.
